IES - Insight Enterprise Strategy - Dybvig Consulting

DYBVIG CONSULTING, INC.

The company was formed for the purpose of commercializing intellectual property characterized by a Gartner analyst, upon review, as “demand chain” optimization.

The IP integrates supply chain analytics with the client’s sales and marketing demand-generation activities to create a variety of profit, economic value or customer value improvement opportunities well beyond the capabilities of any offerings currently available.

Dybvig’s partner, INSIGHT, Inc has implemented the IP as an enhancement to its flagship network design product, SAILS. It was announced by INSIGHT on Jan 9, 2009 as INSIGHT Enterprise strategy.

DYBVIG'S VITA

Dybvig spent more than 30 years with IBM where much of his time was spent either in marketing or supply chain-related activities. This included an assignment as Director, High Volume Products, representing Marketing in IBM US’s S&OP process. During this assignment, an innovative statistical-based forecast “variance analysis” technique was developed with IBM Research. The purpose was to assess, as the monthly actuals accrued, whether the annual forecast remained statistically achievable. Further, if not, to what value should the forecast be revised. Subsequently, Dybvig worked for a Warburg Pincus-financed startup, SynQuest, as senior consultant for strategic consulting services. It was there, building on his IBM experience, during a variety of client engagements that the concepts implemented in IES germinated.

The clients included Tenneco Europe, Scientific Atlanta, Nordstrom, Ford and a white goods manufacturer. Each engagement was characterized by increasingly innovative uses of traditional supply chain analytics. It culminated in a “break through” insight into how to combine supply chain analytics with demand planning.
